Symtoms of Menopause

Signs of Menopause
If you have been feeling more tired than usual or noticing a few hot flashes, you could be going through the early stages of menopause.  Menopause can be scary or even depressing for a woman, and it is only natural for you to be concerned.  Many of these negative feelings may arise due to the uncertainty of whether or not you’re truly in menopause or not.  Fortunately, self tests for menopause are now available and they can help you determine if you are truly entering menopause or not.  These tests can be done in the privacy of your own home and they can give you an accurate picture of exactly what is going on with your body.
Early Signs of Menopause
Symptoms of menopause vary from woman to woman.  The most common menopause symptoms include:
  • Aches and pains
  • Change in sleeping patterns
  • Changes in body hair
  • Changes in the monthly cycle
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Cramping
  • Headaches
  • Hot flashes
  • Increase in PMS
  • Increased incidence of yeast infections
  • Irritability
  • Loss of interest in sex
  • Mood swings
  • Night sweats
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Water retention
It is frustrating to deal with these symptoms without knowing specifically why they are happen.  That’s why the home test kit for menopause is such a valuable tool for women’s health.  Assessing your menopausal status can help you to prepare for the changes that your body is beginning to experience.
Home Test Kits for Menopause
There are a number of self tests for menopause that are available, and most of them are very inexpensive and easy to use while providing results that are as accurate as 90%.  The most common self test for menopause is known as the FSH.  The follicle stimulating hormone or FSH test measures the level of FSH hormone in your body.  FSH is the hormone that is responsible for stimulating ovulation.  FSH rises each month in order to encourage the egg follicles to be released from the ovaries.  When FSH rises, your level of estrogen will drop.  After the egg is released, estrogen levels will rise and FSH levels will drop.  This test can tell if your FSH level is particularly high, which may indicate that your body is preparing to go through menopause.  If the FSH level is above 25 mIU/mL, you are said to be in peri-menopause, which is the initial stage of menopause.  If the FSH level is higher than 50 mIU/mL, then you are in menopause.  The test for FSH is available in both a urine or saliva format, although the urine test is thought to be more accurate and provides an instant result. The saliva test must be mailed to a laboratory that will test your saliva and mail your results back to you.

Product Information

What is this test?
This is a home-use test kit to measure Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in your urine. This may help indicate if you are in menopause or perimenopause.
Why should you do this test?
You should use this test if you want to know if your symptoms, such as irregular periods, hot flushes, vaginal dryness, or sleep problems are due to high levels of FSH which may be part of menopause. While many women may have little or no trouble when going through the stages of menopause, others may have moderate to severe discomfort and may want treatment to alleviate their symptoms. This test may help you be better informed about your current condition when you see your doctor.
